Clay Shaver Experiment:

I wanted to see if I could apply plastercene as a substitute for the slow drying terracotta I had previously been using.

Starting with a simple card model I began to apply a thin layer of black.

I applied plenty of pressure to the clays surface to reduce bulbs and join the plaster seamlessly.

The finished result came out better than I had anticipated, it allowed me to use pre existing models and embellish them with additional colour and form.

Compared to pre existing ceramic work I have completed the plastercine model lacks the subtle detail or durability, but had I been aware of this technique before I likely would have saved a lot of time sticking with plastercine!
